The city of St David’s is situated on the far south west coast of Wales; Fishguard is 15.5 miles away and the city of Pembroke is 28.7 miles. It was granted city status by Queen Elizabeth II and is the smallest city in the UK and even had a TV series dedicated to it - St Davids: Britain's Smallest City.
The magnificent cathedral dates back to the 12th century. This and the ruins of the Bishop's Palace are both wonderful buildings to explore. St Davids is a delightful place within the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park, and has unique shops, tea rooms, restaurants and pubs, surrounded by spectacular coastal scenery.
Nearby Whitesands Bay is one of the many beautiful beaches in the area (and our favourite). Caerfai Bay, Newgale Sands, Abermawr Beach, Marloes Sands are all a short drive away. Walkers love the amazing views from the coastal path which runs around the complete coastline of Pembrokeshire. Local buses drop off and pick up at various points around the coast which helps with your walking plans, so that you can walk several stretches of the path with totally different landscapes and views each day. Dolphin and seal spotting from land or from the many boat trips to local islands are a must, and are also perfect for enjoying the wonderful array of birds in their natural habitat.
We love to visit Ramsay for the absolute peace and quiet. A short walk from the city centre you can visit St Non’s chapel, the reputed birthplace of St David.
St Davids is the perfect holiday destination, whether you are looking for a quiet relaxing break, wonderful walking, a round of golf, an exploration of magnificent castles or family fun-filled days at Oakwood Theme Park, farm parks and much more.
Other places to visit are Manor House Wildlife Park near Tenby, or perhaps Pembroke Castle. We can recommend St David’s Escape Room for those who love a puzzle. Ben is a great host and will ensure you have a great time.
Ty Cuddfan our recently built semi-detached house is located in a quiet cul-de-sac within a new development in the city of St David’s.
Images above feature the local wildlife you may encounter during your stay in St Davids area or on excursion to the islands of Ramsay or Skomer.
